Juventus might be willing to get Jonathan Binotto back from Bologna, where he currently is in joint ownership. Binotto, 25 years old, is currently out for the season due to a serious injury. Prior to that, he expressed himself to excellent levels, even reaching the National team. Binotto's current value is Lit 15 billion [$7.5 million; 4.8 million], so this means that Juve would have to pay Bologna at least of that. The only problem with
Binotto, a product of Juve's youth program, is that he plays in the same position as Gianluca Zambrotta and it's very unlikely that Juve would sacrifice him for Binotto.
As usual, here's a recap of what's going on with Juve's transfer deals/dreams:
BOUGHT: Guzman, f (Presidente Hayes); Maresca, mf (West Bromwich Albion); O'Neill, mf (Cagliari)*; Brighi, mf (Rimini)*
SOLD: nobody
STRATEGIES: Alessandro Nesta [Lazio], Hernan Crespo [Parma], and Sol Campbell [Tottenham] are the big objectives. Vergassola [Sampdoria] has been optioned. Campedelli [???] is very close. Alan Smith [Leeds] and David Beckham [Manchester United] are being scouted. Igor Tudor will sign a contract extension to 2004. A meeting is set with Real Saragossa for Savo Milosevic.
The Under-16 National team will play with Germany in a decisive match to qualify for the European Championships to be held in the end of April in Israel. The match will be played in Vogoska, near Sarajevo. Italy needs a victory, since Germany has a better goal differential after both teams defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina and Moldavia. Juventus will be represented by defender Felice Piccolo.
The Under-20 National team will play its final game in the Madeira Tournament. After playing against Madeira and Portugal, it will be confronted by Turkey. Juventus will be represented by midfielder Enzo Maresca, also captain.
