Carletto Ancelotti didn't like the bad comments on his two forwards (Thierry Henry and Juan Eduardo Esnaider), saying that they moved a lot, but that doesn't help if their teammates do not give them the ball or make movement down the flanks. He also praised Filippo Inzaghi, saying that he is waiting for him and his goals, thus denying the rumors that he and Inzaghi didn't get along in the Parma days. Inzaghi is expected to be on the bench against Vicenza and to be in the starting lineup the following week against Inter.

This is a comparison of Inzaghi's two seasons with Juve:

AFTER 21 SERIE A GAMES
1997/98 21 games played; 11 goals
1998/99 16 games played; 8 goals

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
1997/98 2 goals
1998/99 3 goals

ITALIAN CUP
1997/98 1 goal
1998/99 0 goals

ITALIAN SUPERCUP
1997/98 2 goals
1998/99 0 goals

Luciano Moggi and Claudio Pasqualin were invited at the "Maurizio Costanzo Show", a talk show on Canale 5, where they announced that Alessandro Del Piero will soon sign the new contract.

Lazio coach Sven Goran Eriksson thanked Marcello Lippi, since he should have gone to Lazio this season, instead he opted to remain one more season with Juve, thus "saving" Eriksson's job.

Speaking of Lippi, the former coach is in Turin: he first met Raffaele Guariniello, the district attorney in the doping scandal, and then will meet his former players. Angelo Di Livio met with Guariniello the day before.

The city council will have to decide in March Juve's project for a new stadium: the new building will be built next to the Stadio Delle Alpi and will house 40,000 people. It will cost Lit 300 billion ( 155 million; $ 180 million) and it will be built in 2 years. Juventus, in the meantime, will play in Delle Alpi and move in the new stadium in the 2001/02 season. Only the Tribuna Est will remain of Delle Alpi and the surrounding area will see the construction of movie theaters, shopping mall, restaurants, and an hotel.

Trade news : it seems that Juventus is very close in obtaining 27-year old midfielder Dino Baggio, since Parma has been closely following 23-year old Marcelo Gallardo of River Plate. If Parma fails to win anything this season, look for Fabio Cannavaro and Lilian Thuram to be sold: Inter, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid are crossing their fingers.

Finally, there is a strong rumor that Juve has offered 12 billion lire ( 6.2 million; $ 7.3 million) for 18-year old Torino midfielder Francesco Semioli.
