Marcello Lippi said yesterday that he doesn't surrender and that he wants
to win the Champions League. Lippi was also angry at the rumors made by
newspapers regarding a possible sack of Lippi if he had lost against
Perugia with Albertino Bigon becoming Juve's manager until Carletto
Ancelotti comes July 1st.
Alessandro Del Piero wishes to return to action in time for the Champions
League final, but it is nearly impossible. Del Piero will fly to Vail,
Colorado on February 7th to have himself visited by Dr. Steadman.
Juventus plays tonight the return leg of its quarterfinal challenge with
Bologna in the Italian Cup. Bologna won 2-1 in Turin. The match will be
televised on Raiuno starting 8:45 PM (CET).
Bologna will miss Kennet Andersson since he was red-carded in the first match.
Juventus will be without Angelo Peruzzi, Filippo Inzaghi, Ciro Ferrara
(tomorrow he will have surgery to remove an endomedullar nail that was
inserted when Ferrara was operated after his tibia and fibula fractures. He
will return March 3rd against Olympiakos), Alessandro Birindelli (ankle
sprain), Zinedine Zidane (slight contracture), Daniel Fonseca (flu),
Michelangelo Rampulla (bursitis), and Didier Deschamps (turn-over). Juan
Eduardo Esnaider will start from the bench.
