Juventus Denies Plan to Sign Keane

MILAN (November 18, 1999 8:37 p.m. EST http://www.sportserver.com) - Juventus vice-president Roberto Bettega denied on Thursday that the Serie A giants were planning to sign Manchester United's Republic of Ireland midfielder Roy Keane.
A British newspaper report that a deal had been agreed for the end of this season has been picked up the Italian press, particularly in Juventus' home town of Turin.
But Bettega, speaking as he left an Italian League meeting here, said: "We have a great midfield and we are very pleased with the players we have.
"We know the source of this," he said, referring to the British paper, "and we know that they often say things that aren't true."
