ROME (September 29, 1999 9:45 a.m. EDT http://www.sportserver.com) - Edgar Davids has had successful
eye surgery for glaucoma, Juventus said on Wednesday.
The operation on the midfielder's right eye took half an hour in a clinic in Nantes, France, the club added.
Juventus had been given the all-clear from UEFA, FIFA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to field Davids after he used medicines containing banned substances to treat the eye problem.
However, the deadline on IOC authorization runs out on October 3.
Davids played in the Juventus clashes against Cagliari and Udinese earlier this month wearing swimming goggles to protect the affected eye.
