Kovacevic Completes $19 Million Move to Juventus
SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain, June 16 (Reuters) - Real Sociedad's Yugoslav striker Darko Kovacevic on Wednesday completed a $19 million move to Juventus, Spanish media reported. The 25-year-old forward signed a five-year contract reportedly worth $1.6 million a year with the Italian giants.
Kovacevic, who moved to Real Sociedad in 1996 after an
unsuccessful year at Sheffield Wednesday, said he was looking forward to the challenge of playing in Italy. "I'm ready for a more tactical form of football, in a difficult league," he said at his presentation in Turin. "I wasn't in good form during my spell in England and I came to Spain to prove myself again. I've done that, which has helped me with this move."
Kovacevic scored just eight goals in his first season in San Sebastian but has been in far better form for the last two years. He notched 17 in the league last term and has followed that up with another 16 this year.
