TURIN, Italy, April 21 (Reuters) - Manchester United reached
the European Cup final for the first time in 31 years when they
came back from a two-goal deficit to beat Juventus 3-2 in a
thrilling semifinal second leg.
Juventus, who held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at Old
Trafford two weeks ago, raced into a 2-0 lead after only 11
minutes with two goals from striker Filippo Inzaghi.
But United equalised with headed goals from Roy Keane (24)
and Dwight Yorke (34). The winner came six minutes from time
when an Andy Cole goal gave United their 4-3 aggregate victory.
United skipper Keane and midfielder Paul Scholes will both
miss the final after picking up their second yellow card of the
competition.
After recovering from their poor start, United dominated
much of the match, hit the post twice through Yorke and Dennis
Irwin, and thoroughly deserved their first competitive win in
Italy after 42 years in Europe.
