TURIN, Italy, April 21 (Reuters) - Manchester United's Ryan Giggs has lost his European Cup fitness battle and was not listed in the team or among the substitutes for the semifinal against Juventus on Wednesday.
United will face Juventus in the second leg with Swede Jesper Blomqvist wide on the left instead of Giggs who failed to overcome an ankle injury sustained last week. Manager Alex Ferguson named Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke as his two strikers with Peter Schmeichel fit to play in goal.
Juve's main worry, midfielder Zinedine Zidane, was named in the hosts' starting line-up.
The first match was drawn 1-1.
