RAVENNA, Italy (Sep 10, 1998 - 18:25 EDT) - Juventus needed late goals from Angelo Di Livio and Uruguayan Daniel Fonseca here on Thursday night to secure a 2-0 Italian Cup win over second division hopefuls Ravenna.
Di Livio broke the deadlock in the 70th minute, although the Italian champions were then helped by Ravenna midfielder Giuseppe Pregnolato getting himself sent off for protesting at the goal.
Fonseca put the result beyond doubt in the 83rd minute, making the second leg of the second round tie all but a formality when the two sides meet again in Turin in a fortnight's time.
Coach Marcello Lippi rested many of his first-team squad, but did throw on Zinedine Zidane for the last 20 minutes and Alessandro Del Piero for the final half-hour.
