Tarantino Shocker Gives Juve Win In Thriller

MILAN (Reuters) - An 88th minute own goal from Bologna defender Massimo Tarantino gave Juventus a 2-1 win in Serie A on Sunday, while rivals Roma were held to a 1-1 draw at lowly Lecce.

Juventus move into first place on 51 points, with Roma a point behind but third-placed Inter Milan can go top if they win their derby with AC Milan later on Sunday.

Argentine Hernan Crespo scored a hat-trick for Lazio in their 4-2 win over bottom club Venezia, while struggling Fiorentina enjoyed a rare away win with a 2-1 victory at Verona.

Juve had fallen behind to a Lamberto Zauli goal in the 36th minute but drew level almost immediately through a header from French striker David Trezeguet.

After Zauli and Juve's Cristian Zenoni had been sent off following an off-the-ball clash, Tarantino headed a cross from Gianluca Pessotto into his own net to hand Juve a vital win.

Juve coach Marcello Lippi, whose side suffered a midweek 2-0 defeat to Deportivo Coruna in the Champions League, praised the manner in which his side put that setback and Zauli's opener behind them.

"We were still recovering from Wednesday's game and Bologna made things very difficult for us. But I am really proud of the way the players responded to get this important win and overcame the mental difficulties we had going into this match," said Lippi.
