Thursday 21st February 2002

Juventus star Edgar Davids is reported to be heading for Amsterdam to answer allegations that he assaulted his ex-girlfriend - accusations he has denied.

"Davids will tell investigators all they want to know," said the Dutchman's lawyer, Gerard Spong.

Model Sarah Hageens alleges that Davids beat her throughout their relationship which began in 1998 and that the latest episode occurred last week.

Hageens, who has a two-year-old son by Davids, told police that she feared for her life during a recent quarrel with the Holland international who is alleged to have squeezed her neck then cut her arm by pushing her against a window.

The 23-year-old also claims that the violence towards her worsened during the ban Davids was forced to serve for testing positive for the steroid nandrolone last season.

Hageens' lawyer Abraham Moszkowicz said his client could attempt to seek compensation from Davids.

An investigation will be made into the claims and if found guilty, Davids could face a maximum eight-year prison sentence.
