Roma And Juventus Regret For Sunday's Draw
ROME, February 11 (DS) - Yesterday's AS Roma v Juventus FC match held at Olimpico stadium ended in a draw 0-0 and satisfied none of the fans of both teams.
Various rumours and gossips disseminated before the match did not cease after the match either. After the wrangle between Juventus general director Luciano Moggi and Roma assistant coach Antonio Tempestilli, referee Graziano Cesari made the assistant coach leave the coach bench.
In his post-match interview Moggi said: "I have to mention that we didn't make a blunder on the field. We took revenge for sent-off of Iuliano, and Tempestilli was also sent off. Cesari took that decision after Tempestilli 'attacked' on our executive director Antonio Giraudo. Every time when we play in Rome something like this occurs. I am tired of these incidents. All talks must be only about football and its main figures."
In his turn, Tempestilli declared: "The match was very correct. The sent-off? Giraudo offended me and I answered him. I was sent off to make certain persons calm. Moggi and Cesari talked on the way to the checkroom, then Giraudo went there and then it is not known what occurred."
Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero did not hide his disappointment: "I am dissatisfied with this match. I like playing until the end of the match but when coach Lippi told me about his decision to replace me I had to leave the field. But I think that the coach has a right to make decisions and I tried to understand him.
However, my teammates performed beautiful football on the field and I have nothing to regret."
"Montella? Roma gave us a present not including him in the line-up. Our rivals had no many chances to score and their attacking line played weakly. Nevertheless, this is not the end; we will play a lot of matches in the nearest future. Inter may win the 'scudetto' and it is necessary to continue the pressure," Del Piero added.
Roma defender Christian Panucci expressed his regret for the result of the match: "It's a pity that we had that result. We did something but we didn't manage to do the main thing. We surpassed Juventus, and that's why we regret for that result. We weren't lucky but we proved that all those who want to win the 'scudetto' must take into consideration Roma."
