I'm In My Best Form Ever, Says France's Trezeguet
MILAN (Reuters) - France striker David Trezeguet thinks he is in the best form of his career after taking his season's tally to 13 goals with a double strike for Juventus in Sunday's 3-0 win over Atalanta.
The former Monaco forward is joint-top scorer in Serie A alongside Italy and Inter Milan striker Christian Vieri and Piacenza's Dario Hubner.
Asked if he considered this season to be his best ever, Trezeguet, who is likely to be a key-part of France's World Cup squad, told Italian television: "Yes it is. But we are only just over the half-way stage - I want to carry on like this".
As well as his impressive strike rate in Serie A, Trezeguet leads the Champions League scoring list with eight goals this season.
The 24-year-old Rouen-born striker's best season tally came in his last French league campaign when he scored 22 goals in 30 games for Monaco.
But while his prolific form will delight France coach Roger Lemerre ahead of the World Cup, Trezeguet says he wants to head to Japan and South Korea with some silverware.
"On a personal level I am extremely happy with things but I am more delighted for the team and I hope that we can win something together this season," said Trezeguet, whose side lie third in Serie A after their fourth consecutive win.
Trezeguet was a member of the French squad which won the World Cup on home soil in 1998 and grabbed the golden-goal winner in the Euro 2000 final against Italy.
