Inter Join Juventus In D'Alessandro Chase
BUENOS AIRES, January 16 (DS) - Italian mass media reported that Juventus have moved closer to landing River Plate midfielder Andres D'Alessandro. The sporting director Luciano Moggi met the 20-year-old player's representative Pablo Cosentino and is set to see D'Alessandro's agent Marcelo Simonian next Friday.
The Argentinean is valued at 20 million dollars. La Vecchia Signora considers their Uruguayan keeper Fabian Carini's loan move to River as a part of D'Alessandro's deal.
Yesterday, Ole quoted Moggi saying: "We aren't able to splash out 25 million dollars for such a young player. The prices in South American soccer are too high, however, we can pay such sums only if the risk is justified."
It's obvious the Italian side cannot pay that price due to the known fact, that Serie A clubs face financial problems.
"He is still very young, and I don't think he will make his place into lineup," Moggi added.
Meanwhile, Italian website Calciomercato claims that Internazionale FC have also expressed their interest in young player. Inter are ready to pay about 19 million dollars for D'Alessandro.
Cosentino, who lives in Milan, met the Italian side's sporting director Gabriele Oriali, then paying a visit to Inter chairman Massimo Moratti.
Moratti suggested loaning their forward Antonio Pacheco to River Plate as a part of deal.
A source, close to Inter, informed that the club offered the player a five-year contract with 1.5 million dollars salary per year.
