Lippi Delight As Juventus Hit Form
Sunday 6th January 2002
Juventus manager Marcello Lippi could not contain his delight after watching his side record a 3-0 win over Udinese in Serie A on Sunday.
Juventus moved up to fourth but were grateful to an early penatly miss by Roberto Muzzi at the Stadio Delle Alpi.
Gianluca Zambrotta made the visitors pay for that mistake with a 15th-minute opener and Pavel Nedved showed signs that he is returning to form with a well-taken second. Edgar Davids added a third before the break.
"I saw a great Juventus today," Lippi beamed. "It was the Juve I have waited for since the start of the season.
"Edgar Davids and Pavel Nedved recovered their best form and we'll soon have available Igor Tudor and Paolo Montero.
"But what I'm pleased about is that the team recovered above all their spirit and their personality."
Regarding the title race, he added: "I think Roma and Inter are the best competitors. Inter because of their enthusiasm and strength of their forwards and Roma because they have showed themselves to be really solid and have a large and balanced squad."
