Trezeguet Tips Roma And Inter To Fight It Out

Friday 4th January 2002

Juventus striker David Trezeguet has played down his side's chances of winning the Serie A title and insisted the championship will go to either Roma or Internazionale.

The France international also suggested that the current campaign represents something of a transition period for Juve.

He said: "Roma and Inter are having a great season but we have to think about ourselves and trying to achieve a good balance in our play. The standings are something that we can worry about later."

He continued: "Giallorossi [Roma] are the team that impress me more than the others. They won the last title and this year after a false start, Capello gave them a good tactical system.

"Inter and them will fight for the title till the end. We haven't reached our best but we're still close to top of Serie A, in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia and into the second phase of Champions' League."

Focusing on the team's immediate aims, he added: "We've changed our system, letting Pavel Nedved play behind the forwards as Zinedine Zidane did before.

"Our next match will be against Udinese, a dangerous team, with a strong counter-attack and some stars such as Roberto Muzzi. But if we play as we did against Brescia, we'll win."
