Muzzi Dreaming Of Juventus Switch

Saturday 29th December 2001

In-demand Italian striker Roberto Muzzi has heightened speculation that he is set to sign for Juventus by describing the move as a dream come true.

"If Juventus want me I will go there as quickly as I can," declared the Udinese star.

Juventus chief executive Luciano Moggi admitted on Thursday that the 10 million-rated Muzzi was his top priority when the Serie A transfer window opens next week.

The Turin giants have been short of a forward ever since Marcelo Salas was ruled out for the season with a knee injury, and Udinese boss Giampiero Ventura accepts Muzzi will depart in January.

Lazio and Parma are also keen on the prolific 30-year-old with ten goals to his name already this season - but Muzzi has made it clear he sees his future at the Stadio Delle Alpi.

"To sign for Juventus is the dream of every player in Italy," Muzzi explained.

"And I have a dream for 2002: to win the Scudetto (with Juventus) and to see Udinese avoid relegation," he added.

Muzzi is also looking push his claims for a place in the World Cup squad with Giovanni Trapattoni. "He always says he doesn't close the door to anybody," explained the Udine star.

"Now I am 30 years old, I am ready to play with great players like Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet are," Muzzi added.

The striker is especially keen to link up again with Del Piero, who he played with at Under-21 level.

"He was a young boy but he was already a great player," Muzzi said. "He could do everything with the ball, he makes even the most difficult things look easy."
