Lippi Keen On Coppa Progress

Tuesday 11th December 2001

Juventus manager Marcello Lippi has insisted he does value the Coppa Italia as a competition despite the fact that he plans to leave eight first team players out of Wednesday night's team to face Sampdoria.

Juve lead Samp 2-1 from the first leg of their fourth round clash and Lippi is keen on further progress.

"I hope to reach the quarter-finals, beating Sampdoria, and then to continue, because I consider this tournament as important as any other official match," he said.

"It's a competition that gives me the opportunity to look at players who don't play that often."

Juventus (probable): Carini, Birindelli, Ferrara, Iuliano, Paramatti, Zenoni, Conte, Davids, Maresca, Amoruso, Zalayeta.
