Gianluigi Buffon: "Juventus FC Is Not In Crisis"
TURIN, November 15 (DS) - "Juventus FC is not in crisis, even taking into account the fact that the team didn't start very successfully in the championship. At present the only medicine for our recovery is victory," said the Juventus keeper Gigi Buffon. He means this in any case, even if the rival may be his former team Parma. The keeper thanked everybody for nominating him for the "Golden Ball". It was quite unexpected for him, La Nazione stated.
"I don't think Juventus is worthy of such a strong criticism. One cannot rank us among unlucky teams, because even in the most difficult situations we lag behind the leaders only by two or three points. As for the victory, we will gain it by all means," announced Buffon.
For some reason the Juventus keeper insists on Parma to be the rival, where he formerly played.
"It's not time for emotions. Of course, for me it will not be a match like all the others. Now the new Parma coach is Daniel Passarella, who has taken the job with great enthusiasm. But we will not underestimate and criticize Ulivieri. One can see how much he have invested," pointed out Buffon.
The goalkeeper shared his memories about the years when he was on Parma and noted that he will never forget them.
"However, there is one question we always ask ourselves: do our interests always fit the situation? The same happened with Parma. I simply understood that my future doesn't depend on that team. I think my choice was right."
To the question whether or not he thinks that the same fate is awaiting Juventus coach Lippi as Terim, Buffon answered: "These are two quite different situations. Everything in Juventus is done for a long term and seriously, while Terim's discharge was name is often bandied about in Milan."
In the end Buffon again expressed his gratitude for his nomination for the "Golden Ball," reasonably noting: "Usually the Golden Ball is awarded to the one who scores goals but not the one who returns the ball. Anyhow, I'm very pleased."
