Marcelo Zalayeta: Juventus's Prodigal Son

TURIN, November 13 - Uruguayan Marcelo Zalayeta arrived in Turin last week after spending 3 years abroad. He started as a regular player on Sunday in Italian Cup match Juventus v Sampdoria scoring the first goal. The Uruguayan striker was recalled to Juventus since Marcelo Salas sustained a grievous injury. Zalayeta arrived at the Italian side back in 1998 and started occasionally for Juventus. Then he joined on loan to Empoli, later on he moved to Sevilla where he progressed both technically and mentally. This year he failed to reach an agreement with any club. Last week Juventus recalled the player whose contract with Serie A side hasn't expired yet. Back with Juventus the player faces a new challenge of convincing Lippi and Juve's board that he is good enough for them.
