Juventus Go Give Reserves An Outing At Glasgow

TURIN, Italy, Oct 29 (AFP) Juventus coach Marcello Lippi says he will give several fringe players a chance to start in Wednesday's Champions League Group E clash with Scottish champions Celtic at Parkhead.

With Juventus already sure of a second-round berth Lippi's remarks will give a lift to Celtic coach Martin O'Neill whose side is in contention for the second spot.

"I will not change the whole team," said Lippi. "But I will try to give a bit of a chance to the players who have had less opportunities. I am thinking of (Ciro) Ferrara, (Mark) Iuliano, (Enzo) Maresca and (Nicola) Amoruso."

Ferrara, with Gianluca Pessotto and Alessandro Del Piero one of three survivors of the team Lippi coached to victory in the 1995-6 final, is likely to replace Frenchman Lilian Thuram at the heart of the defence.

Lippi has said Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids and Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved may play from the start with the spotlight in particular on the Czech who is yet to shine since joining Juve from Lazio in the summer.

Up front Amoruso will partner either Frenchman David Trezeguet or Alessandro Del Piero with one starting and the other likely to come on at the interval. Lippi will be hoping this will not be his last trip to Glasgow this season - with the 2002 final due to be played at Hampden Park.

Only the first two teams qualify for the second phase, and both second-placed Porto and Celtic, in third, are realistically battling for that spot.
