Turin Jinx Bothers Rosenborg
Tuesday 16th October 2001
Juventus go for a hat-trick of Champions' League wins against Rosenborg in Turin on Wednesday night, but must cut out the feeble defending which allowed city rivals Torino to come back from three goals down in Serie A at the weekend.
Rosenborg have met the Italian giants five times in all in the Champions' League, going down 2-0 in each of the previous encounters at the Stadio delle Alpi.
Sigurd Rushfeldt has been an ever present in the games and he has nothing but admiration for Juve.
The Norwegian, who is back in Rosenborg on loan from Racing Santander, said: "They haven't just got the best players in the world, they work the hardest as well.
"These players are incredible in man-to-man situations. They are close to you all the time and often get the ball before you do."
Despite scoring in both the wins in Turin, Nicola Amoruso is unlikely to play on Wednesday as Marcello Lippi abandons his rotation policy.
Lippi can also call on Pavel Nedved following the end of his European ban and the coach will be looking for Alex Del Piero to continue his goalscoring start to the season.
Alessio Tacchinardi has a fever and will probably be replaced by Enzo Maresca. Erik Hoftun is back in the squad for the visitors after sitting out following an injury against Celtic.
