Rosenborg failed to secure their first ever home win against Italian opposition on Tuesday in Group E of the Champions' League when midfielder Bent Skammelsrud equalised from the spot with two minutes to go.
Italy striker Alessandro del Piero had put the Italians ahead just two minutes previously when he sent in a raking shot from the edge of the box.
Rosenborg should be grateful they even took a point as the referee failed to award a clear penalty to the visitors in the first half when Skammelsrud brought down Fabian O'Neill on 34 minutes.
Fabian O'Neill and Alessandro del Piero both went close with fine strikes in the second half and substitute striker Marcelo Salas should have done better when he found himself in a promising position.
Even so, Juve's equaliser did not come until the 84th minute when France forward David Trezeguet controlled well and passed to Del Piero, who shot successfully from the edge of the area.
The Rosenborg penalty arrived two minutes from time when Harald Brattbakk was brought down by goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Skammelsrud stepped up to made no mistake from the spot.
Skammelsrud had also had the first chance before the break when he shot powerfully from distance on four minutes, only for Buffon to save.
A minute later Rosenborg should have taken the lead, when the same player was centimetres from burying a Brattbank cross.
Juventus had their first chance on nine minutes when Trezeguet's shot was blocked by goalkeeper Arni Gautur Arason. Gianluca Zambrotta also went close soon after.
