Salas Knows Place Is Not Guaranteed

Marcelo Salas has admitted that he faces a stiff challenge if he is to win a regular first team-place at Juventus. "I know very well that I'll have to fight if I am to be an important part of Juventus' season," the Chile international said.
"I'm completely at the coach's disposal," the forward went on. "I know that Marcelo Lippi wanted me when he was at Internazionale, and that means that he rates me.
"But I'll have to battle with all my heart for a first-team place and only the coach will decide if I deserve to play."
Salas was speaking after being officially presented to the press, and club general manager Luciano Moggi took the opportunity to launch yet another attack on Italian referees.
"Hopefully the problems of last season will not be repeated, or else we could get really angry" he said. "If Juve play as we have done in the last two years, then I'm sure we will win the league."
Moggi has often repeated his belief that only "external factors" prevented Juve from clinching the title in both the last two seasons.
Salas, meanwhile, confirmed that the financial wrangling that delayed his transfer has now been sorted out, and that he will receive the 1 million he believes he is owed by Lazio.
