Salas Expects Decision Over Juventus Move In One Week
SANTIAGO, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Lazio's Chilean striker Marcelo Salas said on
Friday that he expected a decision within a week over whether he would move
to Serie A rivals Juventus.
``When I return to Italy after playing for the national team, the matter
should have been settled, either for me to stay in Rome (at Lazio) or move
to Juventus,'' he said.
``It is only fair to everyone to bring a final point to this situation,''
added Salas, whose last season was plagued by a knee injury.
Salas, called up to the Chilean team after a nine-month absence, is due to
line-up for his country in next Tuesday's World Cup qualifier at home to
Bolivia -- a match of only academic interest as both countries are
effectively out of the running for a place at the 2002 World Cup.
Salas last played for his country in the 2-0 home by defeat by Argentina
last November and the Chileans have lost all the subsequent qualifiers
without him.
``I haven't played 90 minutes for a long time in a competitive match, but I
feel well and I'm looking forward to it,'' he said.
