Ancelotti Out, Lippi In As Juventus Switch Coaches

TURIN, Italy, June 17 (Reuters)(DS) - Juventus coach Carlo Ancelotti is leaving the club and will be replaced by the team's former manager Marcello Lippi, the club said on Sunday.

Juventus honorary president Umberto Agnelli, speaking after the side finished second in Serie A, said: "The reason for Ancelotti's departure is that it is difficult to work in a city where a large part of the fans and the press are against you." Agnelli added: "Lippi has a great desire to do the job."

Ancelotti said he was disappointed by the decision after he steered the side to second place in both his seasons in charge. "I am very sad with this solution after all the points we have gained this season," said the former Parma coach. "I am proud that we were here with a chance of the title on the final day, but I want to look to the future calmly now."

Lippi was coach of Juventus from 1994 to 1999, winning three Italian titles and the European Cup in 1996. He moved to Inter Milan in the summer of 1999 but was sacked after one game of this season.
