We'll Fight To The End, Insists Ancelotti
Sunday 20th May 2001
Juventus coach Carlo Ancelotti on Sunday refused to give up on the title
despite trailing Roma by six points with only three games to go.
"We must believe in our chances until the end, because we want to finish
season our season as high as possible," he said.
"We have played two very good matches since drawing with Roma and they have
given us much confidence for the future."
David Trezeguet scored twice as Juve thrashed Bologna 4-1 away on Sunday but
failed to cut the six-point gap on Roma as the league-leaders defeated Bari
by the same scoreline.
"You can't say we had a totally negative season," Ancelotti added. "You are
talking about a team that could finish the season with 70 points. I know
that we might finish in third despite that, but 70 points has given other
teams the title in the past."
Zinedine Zidane was again Juve's source of inspiration in the Renato
Dall'Ara stadium and Ancelotti is in no hurry to lose the player who has
been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
"He is such a great champion and we strongly want to keep him with us,"
Ancelotti said. "It's an honour for me to coach a player like him."
