Ancelotti Thrilled By Roma Defeat
Monday 9th April 2001
Juventus coach Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that the race for the Scuddetto
is wide open again after Fiorentina beat Roma 3-1 on Monday. "We can win the
league," Ancelotti declared.
Ancelotti paide tribute to his former striker at Parma, Enrico Chiesa, who
bagged two goals for the Viola in the win.
"Enrico Chiesa gave me a very big gift - and somehow I thought he would. I
counted on it. Now we are six points behind. We were confident before, and
we are even more so now. Today's result can help us psychologically.
"We can't do anything else other than to try and win all our matches. We
have nothing else to think about."
Umberto Agnelli, Juventus honorary president, shared Ancelotti's optimism:
"Roma had an 80 per cent chance of winning the league yesterday. Now it is
down to 70 per cent."
