Fiorentina Chief Hits Back At Moggi Jibes
Friday 23rd February 2001
Fiorentina's general manager Giancarlo Antognoni has reacted angrily to
comments made by his Juventus counterpart concerning the future of coach
Fatih Terim. "He [Moggi] should mind his own business and concentrate on the
problems at his club," blasted Antognoni.
On Thursday, Moggi claimed on an Italian television show that Terim would be
taking over at AC Milan next season, while Internazionale would be taking on
former Uruguay coach Daniel Passarella in place of Marco Tardelli.
But Antognoni, who is still hoping that Terim will reconsider his decision
to Fiorentina in the summer, did not take kindly to the remarks.
"I cannot understand his behaviour. No one else does," said the furious
Antognoni on Friday. "No one tells him what Juventus need and no one goes
and says that Ancelotti will be the coach of Parma or Inter or Milan next
season."
The Fiorentina chief is hoping to speak to Moggi personally on the matter
soon, but in the meantime, he concluded with a prediction of his own.
"If Moggi wants to lower himself to that level, then I'm allowed to say that Gianluca Vialli will be the next Juventus coach," he added.
