Cassano Too Young For Big Club, Says Davids
Thursday 15th February 2001
Bari star Antonio Cassano, who has been linked with just about every top
club in Europe, should be content at a smaller club, according to Juventus
midfielder Edgar Davids. "He is too young to play at a big club," Davids
said.
"Cassano is a great talent, but it has yet to be seen when and how well he
will grow up as a player and as a man," the Dutchman went on. "To play at a
big club, you have to have more talent."
Juventus meet Bari in Serie A on Sunday. "We have to win, " Davids insisted,
"and we can do that even without our best player. Juventus are a true team
who do not depend on any one player."
His words will certainly stir up Bari, who have become resigned to losing
the 23 million rated Cassano at the end of the season.
Roma are thought to have a verbal agreement to sign the player, but
Juventus, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United have all been linked
with him.
