Sadness At Juve As Del Piero Mourns Father

A funeral was due to be held on Wednesday morning in Vendemiano for Gino Del
Piero, father of Juventus No 10 Alessandro. The 61-year-old electrician died
on Monday night after a long fight against cancer.
Del Piero Senior was at the Stadio Delle Alpi over the weekend to see his
beloved side beat Napoli 3-0.
His son has suffered a miserable season of injuries and poor form, but the
temperamental star's troubled state of mind - so often a subject for debate
in Italy - can now be explained.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti said: "We will all remain by his side. In the last few
months it has been a terrible weight that Alex has had to carry around with
him.
"It has effected his morale and his personal life, as can be expected when
someone you love is not well."
