Zidane Repeats Scudetto Credentials
Wednesday 7th February 2001
Zinedine Zidane has re-iterated his belief that Juventus will win the
Scudetto but insisted that slip-ups like the weekend defeat at Atalanta must
not be repeated.
The France midfielder said: "Even though we lost in Bergamo, we will still
wint he Scudetto. Juventus are as strong as Roma. We are six points away?
That's better, because when you pursue and you are far from the leader, you
run faster and you can finish better than them.
"But we can't lose a match like the last one against Atalanta again. We have
to concentrate all match long, we have to be more focused."
Zidane has only scored three goals all season, but more than his poor tally,
he is annoyed that he is constantly asked about it. "I won't speak about
this," he snapped.
"I don't just play so I can score. And it's the same for Del Piero: now he
is quiet but earlier in the season he showed all his class. I try to play
every season at the same level, but after the victory in the World Cup,
everyone wants more from me.
"I understand why, but it's also right that my performance is good everyday
during the domestic season."
