Juventus Hit By Iuliano Injury Blow
Monday 5th February 2001
Mark Iuliano faces two months on the sidelines after damaging his knee
ligaments in Saturday's defeat against Atalanta.
The injury is much worse than originally feared and the Italy defender is
not likely to return to action before April. Coach Carlo Ancelotti, who
released Marco Zanchi to Vicenza before the transfer deadline, looks set to
call upon Ciro Ferrara to deputise. Igor Tudor is also available.
The news is also a blow to Italy coach Giovanni Trapattoni, who will have to
do without Iuliano for the crucial World Cup qualifying game against Romania
on March 24.
The good news for Ancelotti was that midfielder Fabian O'Neill and striker
David Trezeguet have resumed training and could be fully-fit next month.
