Preview: Del Piero Lands Leading Role
Friday 2nd February 2001
After coming on a substitute against Vicenza last week, Alessandro Del
Piero's revival at Juventus takes another step forward on Saturday when he
is likely to take the captain's armband for the game with Atalanta.
Skipper Antonio Conte is injured, as is Fabian
O'Neill, so Del Piero is the favourite to lead the team. Last week, the
Italy forward started on the bench but got into the action early when David
Trezeguet was injured. Del Piero did well as Juve romped to a 4-0 win.
Ataltanta have only one injury doubt as they hope to repeat the form that
saw them hit four past Udinese last weekend. Defender Sebastiano Siviglia is
carrying an injury, so Luciano Zauri will probably drop back to defence with
Berretta taking his place in midfield.
Atalanta (probable): Pelizzoli, C Zenoni, Carrera, Paganin, Zauri, D Zenoni,
Berretta, Donati, Doni, Morfeo, Ventola
JUVENTUS (probable): Van der Sar, Paramatti, Montero, Iuliano, Pessotto;
Zambrotta, Davids, Tacchinardi, Zidane, F Inzaghi, Del Piero
