Diana Arrival Overshadowed by Del Piero Comments
Tuesday 30th January 2001
Juventus coach Carlo Ancelotti has beaten Wednesday's transfer deadline to
sign Brescia right-back Aimo Diana - but once again all the talk in Turin is
about Alessandro del Piero.
Pacy defender Diana is renowned for his charges down the flank to support
attacks and will add vigour to Juve's play.
But his arrival was almost lost amid continued speculation over the future
of fallen idol Del Piero, who is reportedly being tracked by Spanish giants
Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as AC Milan.
Antonio Cassano's mooted move to the Delle Alpi still appears to be the key
to any future sale and Del Piero did nothing to dampen speculation over his
future on Tuesday night.
"For the moment I'm a Juventus player and if the club wants to keep me for
next season, I'm happy," he said.
"But this football is different from the old football, so it's impossibile
say now if I will go or if I will stay. We will see in a few months, maybe
in a few weeks."
