Isaksson Completes Djurgarden Move
Thursday 18th January 2001
Newly-promoted Djurgarden have signed Sweden Under-21 international
goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson from Juventus on a four-year deal.
Isaksson had become unhappy in Italy after failing to make any impression on
the first team squad. "I just want to play football," he said.
"I don't regret my journey to Italy, because I have learned a lot and I'm a
better player today."
Isaksson was 17 and had played only a handful of Allsvenskan games for
Trelleborg when, in June 1999, he was surprisingly signed by Juve for
800,000.
In one-and-a-half years at Stadio Delle Alpi, Isaksson didn't made it onto
the Juventus bench, being kept out by Netherlands international Edwin van
der Sar and the experienced Michelangelo Rampulla.
