Djurgarden Look to Juve Keeper
Wednesday 17th January 2001
Allsvenskan newcomers Djurgarden will begin negotiations with Sweden
Under-21 goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson on Wednesday in an attempt to bring the
Juventus number three to Stockholm.
Isaksson is known to be unhappy with life in Italy, and has publicly
announced his desire to leave the Turin club.
Reports on Swedish radio suggest that some sort of contract has already been
agreed, but Djurgarden director Bo Andresson refused to confirm that.
"All I can say is that we'll be seeing Andreas Isaksson and his agent Roger
Ljung on Wednesday, and of course we hope that Andreas will join us," he
told news agency TT.
Isaksson was 17 and had played only a handful of Allsvenskan games for
Trelleborg when, in June 1999, he was surprisingly signed by Juve for
800,000.
After one and a half years at Stadio Delle Alpi, Isaksson still hasn't made
it onto the Juventus bench, being kept out by Netherlands international
Edwin van der Sar and the experienced Michelangelo Rampulla.
Isaksson only plays in the junior team and is desperate to secure first team
experience.
