Isaksson to End Juventus Misery
Saturday 6th January 2001
Juventus's Swedish goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson has admitted that he has
asked to leave the Turin club. "I am not even playing with the reserves
anymore, but instead with some sort of youth team. I want to leave," the
17-year-old moaned.
Isaksson, who has only been with the club for half a season, has asked the
club to release him. Since last month's signing of keeper Fabian Carini,
Isaksson has slipped down to fourth-place in the pecking-order.
He is insistent that he cuts short his current five-year contract. "I want
to develop and here I am not doing that anymore. Of course this is very
hard. Just before Christmas I told the club about how I feel. They know that
I want to leave for another club. That is why they brought another keeper
in," he told Dagens Nyheter.
No clubs have contacted Isaksson or his agent Roger Ljung yet - but the
former Trelleborg player is not worried. "I do not know if I could move back
to Sweden. I would rather stay in Europe, but Allsvenskan is also an
alternative.
"Most things down here have been positive. I think that I have developed my
skills and, of course, my experience. My Italian is not fluent, but I can at
least make myself understood. I guess that is also an experience."
