Vialli is Dreaming, Says Juve Boss
Saturday 30th December 2000
The honorary president of Juventus, Umberto Agnelli, has dismissed Gianluca
Vialli's hopes of coaching the Turin giants.
The former Chelsea boss, who played for Juventus and helped them win the
Champions' League in 1995, said it would be his dream job to take over at
the Stadio Delle Alpi one day.
But when told about Vialli's comments, Agnelli said: "Vialli is a friend and
in Juventus everyone loves him. But this is obviously not sufficient to
become Juventus manager."
Current coach Carlo Ancelotti added: "I am a friend of Gianluca and I agree
with him that everyone dreams to coach Juventus one day in their life. But
it's also necessary to be lucky in getting the job, and I was. I hope that
Juventus will always remain a dream for Vialli."
Agnelli added that he felt Ancelotti's side are now genuine title
challengers.
He said: "I am confident for the future, we started with bad results but,
like Edwin Van der Sar who had a few problems, we have recovered. We will
fight for the Scudetto with teams like Roma, Lazio and AC Milan."
