Vialli Dreaming of Juventus
Thursday 28th December 2000
Getting the sack from Chelsea hasn't blunted Gianluca Vialli's managerial
ambitions. "I really dream of one day coaching Juventus," he has revealed,
"that is the best job in the world."
Despite leading Chelsea to five trophies in two and a half years, Vialli
lost his job at Stamford Bridge in September after a poor start to the
season.
The 36-year-old former Juventus striker hasn't worked since, yet, as he told
Gazzetta dello Sport, he still believes he can reach the top as a coach.
"I really dream of one day coaching Juventus, that is the best job in the
world," he said. "I know Juventus fans love me and I am very proud of that."
Vialli played for Juve for four years after signing from Sampdoria in 1992.
He fired them to the 1993 Uefa Cup and the 1995 league and cup double in
Italy, and was captain when they won the 1996 European Cup.
However, with Juventus handily placed in Serie A, Vialli is not expecting to
replace current boss Carlo Ancelotti soon. "Ancelotti is a very good coach
and he's doing a good job at Juventus," he said.
