Brescia Boosted By Bachini Signing
Wednesday 27th December 2000
Brescia have secured the services of Juventus' former Italy Under-21
international midfielder Jonathan Bachini but turned down the offer to sign
Torino striker Marco Ferrante.
Brescia are currently 16th in Serie A and Carlo Mazzone's side have failed
to gel in the first half of the season. Star signing Roberto Baggio has been
injured for large parts and has only recently returned to the starting
line-up.
The signing of Bachini will give Mazzone's midfield some much-needed
stability. The midfielder was long being tipped for the top before he made
his big money move to Juventus. A former Italy Under-21 international, it
took him a long time to finally force his way into Udinese's first team in
1997.
After that there was no looking back and two good seasons brought him to
Juve's attention although he struggled to establish himself as a regular in
the Bianconeri line-up. Strong in defence and attack, he usually occupies a
role on the left side of the midfield.
Mazzone, meanwhile, has decided against signing Torino striker Marco
Ferrante. It is believed that the manager isn't too impressed by the striker
's workrate and is now looking for someone who is prepared to give
everything for the struggling team.
