Dropped Inzaghi Confronts Ancelotti

Saturday 9th December 2000

Filippo Inzaghi has held showdown talks with Juventus coach Carlo Ancelotti after learning that in Sunday's game with Parma he will be on the bench for the second week running.

The 27-year-old Italian international is disappointed about being overlooked in favour of David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero. After their meeting, Ancelotti refused to disclose what was decided.

"We only said what we had to say," was all he would reveal.

"Trezeguet is playing well and I have to make use of him. Del Piero played well in Milan and has to stay in the team."

Saturday also saw Juventus owner Giovanni Agnelli call in at the club for the first time since his son Eduardo's death.

He gave his best wishes to Ancelotti for the game against Parma and was accompanied by his nephew, Lapo Elkann, who many believe will be one of his heirs for the Agnelli business empire.
