Italian Giants in Battle for Baros

Banik Ostrava owner Alois Hadamczik is in Italy to meet AC Milan and
Juventus representatives to discuss a possible transfer of star striker
Milan Baros, according to reports in the Czech Republic.
Czech newspaper Sport reported on Wednesday that Hadamczik will visit Milan
and Juventus to discuss their interest in the 850,000-rated striker.
The hefty price tag slapped on the 19-year-old has scared of any potential
Czech buyers. The most likely option, Sparta Prague, had to give up on the
idea of signing Baros after his club refused to budge on the price, which is
more than double the previous transfer price record for a Czech player
between Czech clubs.
A couple of months ago Sparta coach Ivan Hasek's response to the asking
price was to say that "Banik had failed to realise that Sparta is not a
Serie A team".
Hadamczik has gone to Italy to hold negotiations without the player's agent
Pavel Paska - as he did in the case of midfielder Marek Jankulowski, who
joined Napoli in summer.
If the sale goes through, Banik Ostrava will be looking to replace Baros
with one of Drnovice's strikers, Vitezslav Tuma or Marcel Cupak, who both
played for Banik between 1994 and 1996.
