Deportivo Coach Looks on Bright Side After Juventus Draw
LA CORUNA, Spain, Oct 18 (Reuters)(DS) - Deportivo Coruna boss Javier
Irureta was disappointed with only getting a point after
seeing his side miss several clear-cut chances in a 1-1 draw with Juventus
on Wednesday.
But the Spanish coach insisted a draw was still a good result for his side,
who are level on points with the Italians after four games in their
Champions League group E. "We deserved a victory for the way we took the
initiative in the game and the chances we created," said Irureta, whose side
came back from a Filippo Inzaghi strike after 10 minutes to equalise through
Victor two minutes later.
"A draw is a good result, though. Juventus caused us a lot of problems by
scoring such an early goal. It was vital that we
equalised so soon afterwards. "In the first half we played with great touch
and with a lot of movement but the game evened out in the second thanks to
the work of Alessio Tacchinardi and Edgar Davis. It was harder for us to
find spaces."
Juve coach Carlo Ancelotti agreed that the speed with wich Deportivo found
their equaliser changed the game. "The key to the game was our inability to
hold our advantage," he said. "But this was a difficult game for us in a
dangerous ground against a high quality team. "Deportivo stopped us playing
at times, particularly at the end of the first half. It was much more even
after the break, though."
