Ancelotti Proved Right Over Kovacevic
Sunday 15th October 2000
Juventus coach Carlo Ancelotti was full of praise for his two scorers after
watching his side secure three points against Bari on Sunday.
"Two weeks ago I said I would have given more room to Kovacevic even if Del
Piero could play," he said. "In my opinion he deserves it. Today I got the
answer I expected. He's on a 1.5 goal-per-match average. Not bad, is it?
"He fitted perfectly into today's match. So I can't tell him nothing less
than 'Bravo'."
Ancelotti was also happy with the team's overall performance: "We are on the
right path. It wasn't that easy to switch our way of playing to fit the
conditions but we had to keep the ball in the air and we did."
Ancelotti also appreciated Zidane's contribution to the two goals: "Zizou
had a great first half. On a normal playing surface he would have been
excellent."
Such was the coach's good mood that he excused the poor display of France
striker David Trezeguet: "We have to understand him. He likes football
better when it is played on the floor and he isn't suited to the ball in the
air."
Bari coach Eugenio Fascetti had no problems with the scoreline: "It's more
than obvious that their individual talent is superior to ours. On a normal
pitch it would have been a dream game.
"We are okay, and we're growing. What are we missing? Just a bit of luck and
force."
