Zidane's Suspension Reduced to One Game
NYON, Switzerland (October 13, 2000 7:00 p.m. EDT http://www.sportserver.com) - The suspension of French star Zinedine Zidane was
reduced from two games to one on Friday by European soccer authorities.
The Juventus star had been ejected during a Champions League game against
Deportivo La Coruna for a rough tackle.
UEFA imposed the two-game ban on Monday. But the appeals body, while
acknowledging that the tackle "endangered the opponent's safety," reduced the
penalty.
Zidane will miss Wednesday's Champions League game against Deportivo in La
Coruna.
