Juventus In For £3m-A-Year Recoba
Friday 6th October 2000
Inter midfielder Alvaro Recoba was offered a £3 million-a-year deal by
Juventus on Friday - but is only likely to take it up if Uruguay boss Daniel
Passarella replaces Marcello Lippi as coach at his current club.
Recoba's manager Paco Casal, who has invested £20 million in Uruguay's
national team, will negotiate his player a transfer to spite Inter if his
countryman Passarella comes.
Meanwhile, Casal has demanded wages of £5 million a year on Recoba's behalf.
Recoba's signing would excite Juve fans, but most would agree that it has
been their defence rather than creative options that have let them down this
season.
