Juve Snap Up French Youngsters
Wednesday 4th October 2000
The exodus of young talent from France continues apace with Juventus adding
to their French contingent at the Stadio dello Alpi by signing two teenagers
from third division Red Star.
Frantz Bertin, 17, and Aboubacar Fofana, 18, have signed on a free transfer
with Turin club after spurning Red Stars' attempts to sign them to new
contracts.
They will join fellow countryman and former Saint-Etienne player Vincent
Pericard in the youth team at Juventus and are the latest in a line of young
French talent to leave the country in search of riches.
A few weeks ago, Montpellier sold 17-year-old Gregory Vignal to Liverpool
and Toulouse's Mickael Sabathier and
Christophe Grondin were signed by Aston Villa.
France internationals Zinedine Zidane and David Trezeguet also play for
Juventus.
