Italy's Del Piero to Start Against Dutch

AMSTERDAM (Reuters)(DS) - Italy coach Dino Zoff named Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero in his side to face the Dutch in their Euro 2000 semifinal on Thursday. Del Piero replaces AS Roma forward Francesco Totti, who had been Zoff's first choice striker alongside Filippo Inzaghi throughout the tournament.

The nimble forward's only previous start in the competition was in Italy's 2-1 defeat of Sweden in the first round, when he scored the winner two minutes from time. This will be his 33rd cap.

The Dutch made one change to the side wich routed Yugoslavia 6-1 in the quarter-finals, bringing in Giovanni Von Bronckhorst at left back to replace his Rangers team mate Arthur Numan. The switch had been widely expected after Numan ruptured a muscle in his right foot against the Yugoslavs.
