Juventus Defeat Could Affect Transfer Market
It is feared that Juventus's dramatic loss of the Scudetto on Sunday could have consequences in the transfer market after the Turin club pulled out of a deal for Lecce's David Sesa.
Juve had apparently agreed a 5million fee for the Swiss striker, but after seeing the championship go to Lazio, they have put a block on all negotiations.
Sesa himself, who earlier in the week said, "When I was young, I shouted for Juventus and I continue to have a special liking for them," was quick to try to appease his own fans and team-mates.
"I would be honoured to play in Juventus, but I would be happy to stay in Lecce too, as I like very much this team," he said.
The more serious consequences of the failure of the deal, however, could be the potential knock-on effect throughout the transfer market, if Lecce had earmarked the money they were expecting from Juve for future purchases.
This, however, has not brought the transfer rumour-mill to a halt, as reports on Wednesday linked Juve with a swoop for Arsenal's Patrick Vieira, with Sunday Oliseh possibly going the other way in part exchange.
Meanwhile, Filippo Inzaghi's disenchantment with the club has spilled over into a dispute over his contract. He is rumoured to be seeking the same salary as Alessandro Del Piero, something Juventus officials are reluctant to grant him.
